NotesRobert (my great uncle) was one of 4 children of unwed parents who were placed in Quarriers care and sent to Canada. He arrived with two older sisters in 1884 when he was 4 years old. A fourth sibling did not arrive until 1891.

Robert was placed in Portage duFort, Quebec. His two sisters,Susan (my grandmother) was placed in Forrester Falls and Anne was placed in Beechburg, Ontario. Thise two were girls were across the Ottawa River from Robert, and I understand they maintained contact as they grew.

I have not been able to locate any records of Robert. According to Quarrier's records, his sister, Anne, wrote Quarriers to determine Robert's birth date for "military purpose", which I expect was WWI. I have searched those records on the internet,and even travelled to Ottawa to look at files, but have not as yet found Robert. A cousin found in Smith Falls, recalls visiting him in the US, and "thinks" it was Syracuse, N.Y., but as yet I have not found proof. The search continues!
